Much more than a long hood!
The E-Type is not only the 1961 Geneva Show sensation and an endless hood. It is also the heir of the “C” and “D” prototypes and of their le Mans wins. The E-Type hesitates between these identities, between Saville Row and the Hunaudieres, between Twiggy and Mulsanne…
… Of course we are immediately stunned by the “sculptural” beauty of the E-Type, by the quality of its leathers or by the “so chic” Smiths instruments aligned on the dashboard ; but it’s before discovering the multi-tubular structure supporting the double over head cam 4,2l 6 cylinders engine, or the rear train with its “in-board” disc-brakes designed to lower the non-suspended weight…
The result is a high-class sports roadster, a real “GT” swallowing kilometers (sorry miles!) with enthusiasm. An “easy” car that one can drive on the generous torque of its big engine or push in the revs to get the most lyrical sound!!! It is as well the pleasure of driving a genuine “myth”, which will create a sensation at every stop, at the hotel or at the restaurant… Where you will invariably receive the best welcome!!!
A “brute” in evening wear…
Its nickname, “The British Brute” is a very accurate summation of the Aston Martin DBS V8. As the first true British “supercar” with a V8 engine and 350HP, it is also an authentic “Aston” sporting a completely hand stitched leather interior and woodwork, and finally it is most certainly a “Bond car” from “The Living Daylights”…
Astons are rare and exclusive vehicles. In fact, the make nearly went bankrupt in the 70’s and 80’s and production was reduced to just a few hundred models, of which barely a few dozen of them were hand assembled convertibles… In addition to that, ours is a very rare “Oscar India” model and is in every way identical to the one delivered to Prince Charles (the POW edition stands for the “Prince of Wales”). One would surely come to understand that driving it is not only a unique experience but also a true privilege…
Beyond the legend of the DBS V8, it is also an excellent sports car – fast and steady. The breaks and the chassis are excellent, and as for its highlighted “Tadek Marek” V8 engine of 5.4L with four overhead camshafts it is simply a “symphonic” masterpiece!!!
Luxury, silence and voluptousness…
Incarnate of the “luxury automobile”, a Rolls resembles no other car. Comfortable, silent and extremely smooth to drive it is an experience in and of itself. Our Rolls is a Corniche which derived its name from the legendary “Grande Corniche”, the mountain road running from Nice to Monaco… so come and experience “our Corniche on The Corniche”!!!
You will revel in the incredible silence of its V8 engine boasting almost 7 cylindrical litres and the scent of “Connolly” leather along with the luxuriousness of the walnut wood panels and the little trays for the glass of Champagne you will sip during your trip to the restaurant, casino, grand hotel or memorable party!
The Rolls-Royce is the vehicle for those grand occasions: weddings, birthdays or romantic weekends… each instance in a Rolls is magical… It will add an unparalleled glamour to all your photos. As it is extremely spacious, it will easily accommodate all manner of wedding dresses; even the most ostentatious!
The ultimate incarnation of the British Roadster!!!
The “Big” Healeys are legendary but unclassifiable… Today they embody the “British Chic” with their white faced Smiths gauges, two tones paints and wire wheels… However in the 50’s they were rather “big boys’ cars”, Caroll Shelby himself was even racing a 100/6!
… Indeed, before becoming the “so chic British Classic” they are today, the Austin Healey won their fame in they hands of the greatest racing drivers (Caroll Shelby, Stirling Moss, Timo Makinen) and this as well on the race track (Sebring, Le Mans, Daytona, Laguna Seca) as in rallies (Monte-Carlo, RAC, Acropole) or during the city-to-city “marathons” (Lièges-Rome-Liège, Coupe des Alpes). The “Big” Healey records are actually an inventory of the 50’s and 60’s motor racing events, Donald Healey’s roadsters definitely made history…
… And as soon as one takes place behind the large Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel it’s easy to understand why… The straight-6 purrs like a big cat and delivers immediately a generous torque, the Healey is neither “sharp” nor hazardous, she is at her ease on every grounds and in everyone’s hands…
Its beauty is on the inside…
The Daimler SP 250 is rare. Of the 2654 models manufactured, only a handful remains… of which one can be found in our “collection”! Despite being discontinued by Jaguar to give way for the E Type, the “Dart” has many great features of which one is a unique look and a treat of little all alloy 2.5l V8 engine… what a sound!!!
However, despite its thunderous mechanics, the Daimler “Dart” received mixed reception, the fault of a very (or too) audacious design conceived to seduce the American market. This was also possibly due to the financial situation of Daimler during its launch. A financial picture that was already suffering because of the ostentatious flaunting by its owner Bernard Docker and his flamboyant wife Lady Norah… more means would have been necessary to continue producing this very original model, with its body completely made from fibre glass and its 4 disc brakes, unique in that era.
Over and above the innovations, the Daimler is also a very typical British Roadster sporting its Moto-Lita steering wheel, its Smith dash board, its central hubs for spoked wheels and its very short and sporty gear box largely inspired by that of the TR3. The “last Daimler” which was designed to “conquer” America is however a true “Brit”…
… Let’s Get Those English Girls!
“Une p’tite MG, trois compères, assis dans la bagnole, sous un réverbère, etc.” (“Nouvelle Vague” – a French song from 1959) If Richard Anthony went as far as singing its praises, it is because the MG really was THE car of the New Wave, a symbol of independence…Today, it still offers that same sentiment of freedom…
The British automobile industry of the 60’s decidedly had a “recipe” to manufacture very charming fun little convertibles which weren’t too expensive and above all had a very sporty character. The MG “A” was part of this “lost generation” and is considered today a cult car…
Sitting behind its wheel, one can understand why! The driving experience is very “classic” style all while still being very “relaxed”. The scenery can be enjoyed to the max and with hair in the wind one straight away feels quite comfortable behind the large steering wheel which handles easily. The same goes for the for the gear box. The 1600cc acceleration is excellent. The MG “A” isn’t a “monster” but a formidable car to take for a leisurely drive…
It is the ideal car for the couple holidaying on The Riviera. Jump in the car and go to the beach and then take it for a drive in the backcountry, this car adapts to all situations without a flinch… and as a bonus you will receive “thumb ups” by onlookers all along your drive!
The magic of an authentic “Vintage Racer”!!!
We needed a “vintage car”… When we saw this “TD” we thought “there she is”!!! She is beautifully “off-the-wall” with its oil can on the running board, its brass horn, its tilting windshield with “brooklands” aero-screens, but it’s a real sports car with its 1800cc engine…
… In the middle of the anonymous modern cars flow the MG “TD” causes a real sensation, it’s a real head turner, and the children’s favorite!!! It has indeed all the attributes of an authentic “vintage racer” from the heroic era of the beginning of car racing…
But on the mechanical side it is much more contemporary… Its 1800cc engine borrowed from a “modern” MG “B” (and well fed by two double-barrel SU carbs) produces almost 100 bhp!!! This is more than enough to catapult its 650 kilos from a turn to another, our MG “TD” is a blast to drive and it has swallowed the 850 kilometers of the last Jean Behra rally with lots of appetite!!!
Despite its “extreme” look the MG “TD” is a very easy car to drive, the chassis is excellent and the road holding is spotless, the steering is direct and precise, the brakes are also very good and the bucket seats really comfortable. Actually after 10/15 minutes of “acclimatation” one finds back true racing sensations and this without really driving at unreasonable speed.
